"Trials of the Thief-Taker" is an interactive historical adventure novel comprising 140,000 words, crafted by the skilled author Joey Jones. This narrative experience places you in full command, letting your decisions shape the course of the tale. It remains entirely text-based, devoid of visual aids or auditory accompaniments, relying solely on the boundless strength of your own imagination.

Embark on a journey as a thief-taker—individuals remunerated by the court or engaged by victims of crime to recover lost possessions and, for an additional fee, bring offenders to account. Your pursuits will take you across the mist-laden commons and cramped backstreets of 18th-century London. Choose to lead a band of unkempt thugs or navigate the streets solo as you capture highwaymen along desolate paths and uncover felons and forgers in taverns and coffeehouses. Employing strategy, might, or through shadowy alliances, you will locate your targets.

Your actions could serve justice, enabling you to establish a distinguished reputation and garner allies. Alternatively, you might perpetrate crimes you later aim to resolve: purloining goods you are tasked with recovering, corrupting prison guards to release your comrades, constructing your criminal domain while society reveres you as a hero.
